Delving deeper into inquiry for the Unit on Migration under the TD theme 'Where we are in place and time', Pathways School, Noida had organized a field trip to the Tibetan Colony in Delhi on 4th and 5th of April 2019 for students of Grade 4. The objective of the trip was to interact with the Tibetan Migrants from the Tibetan Children's Village, Day School, New Delhi. Through this trip, our students explored the different reasons for migration and the effects it has on individuals, communities and cultures.
The Pathways students of Form 4 interacted with the Tibetan students, together they learnt and appreciated Tibetan Music & Dance and other aspects of the their culture, like Recycling products.
There was an exchange of wonderful and soul touching songs performed by The Tibetan students as well as the Pathways students, who were accompanied by their teachers and the Music Specialist. At the end there was an interactive session of Q's & A's with the Head Master Mr. Migmar Tsering of the Tibetan Children's Village, Day School and his personal heart rendering story of his journey from his home in Tibet to India. The Walk through the colony gave an insight to our students about life and culture of the Tibetan diaspora.
This was a wonderful experiential opportunity to learn outside school, it helped focus on qualities of self-reliance, team work, besides gathering data and making observations. Engaging with different communities to appreciate humanity and develop empathy was another takeaway from the trip.
