We are thrilled to announce that our MYP student, Niharika Dwivedi's personal project, Maasik Haq (My Right to Menstrual Equity), has been selected for the prestigious IB Global Youth Action Fund and has been awarded USD 2000 for further development.
She has conducted empowering sessions about menstruation with tribal women, initiated open forum discussions to break the taboo surrounding this subject in tribal culture and beliefs, organized sanitary napkin distribution drives, and even created a powerful documentary showcasing the lives of the tribal women and girls she has interacted with.
She has also launched the "Period Jottings" blog, where she shares inspiring stories of tribal women and their struggles, shedding light on the challenges they face and their resilience.
With the support of the IB Global Youth Action Fund, Niharika's project will now take a significant step forward. The grant funding of USD 2000 will be utilized to establish a period-positive home in a tribal village in Chhattisgarh, India, further empowering and uplifting the lives of tribal women in the region. She also received a letter of acknowledgement fro her work from the UNICEF office for Chattisgarh.
Congratulations for this well-deserved recognition and for your unwavering commitment to making a real difference in the world!
