With freedom in our minds, faith in our world and pride in our souls, we proudly saluted the Nation on its 75th Independence Day!
The students demonstrated their love and respect for the nation through creative engagements in the classrooms through the week. Enthusiastically they shared their perspective about freedom and reflected it through art and poetry. Their patriotism was visible through songs, speeches, stories, posters and facts sharing to show their feeling of oneness with the country. They enjoyed making flags, writing messages and also shared what freedom means to them. The engagements were facilitated with an objective to help the students understand the significance of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and value freedom!
Proudly they held the tricolour and shared it’s significance. Many learners responded to the ‘Har ghar jhanda’ campaign and its patriotic impact.
A special assembly to mark the 75th year of Independence was planned. The assembly started with a Shloka from the ‘Bhagwat Geeta’ to reinforce the message of oneness and unity. Students shared the global and national news. The spirit of nationalism and sense of pride was evident amongst the students when they heard about India’s performance during Commonwealth Games.
The students sang, ‘Jagao mera desh' in celebration of this landmark occasion. Keeping up the spirit of Independence Day, we had our Pathways community share, ‘What independence means to them’. Grade 4 collated the responses and shared it in the form of a video. This was followed by a Quiz on Independent India, conducted by Grade 5 students. To culminate the assembly, a dance performance on, ‘Teri mitti main mil jawan’ left us all spellbound. The assembly concluded by respectfully singing the National Anthem together. To add to the 75th year of Independence students enjoyed the Ladoo’s.
To move forward few students encouraged the audience to reflect on ways to bring in changes on issues affecting the country. Highlighting the issue of ‘Starvation even after 75 years of independence’ and ‘food wastage in school’, led the community identify ways to resolve the problems. A reality check on the situation of floods in Assam prompted us to reflect on our past and future actions, and think of ways to support the people of Assam.
Nothing is more precious than independence and liberty. It is this spirit of independence that led our learners celebrate the 75th Independence day, with great fervour.
